The fish hook is made from New Zealand Paua Shell, a beautiful native abalone shell with natural shades of blue, green, pink and purple. No two pieces are the same.
The necklace is carved in a Maori Hei Matau design. The fish hook carries a spiritual meaning, one of peace, prosperity, good health, and safe travel over water.
On one edge of the Paua Hook is a Maori kowhaiwhai (rafter) tattoo design. The back of the necklace is a timber veneer with the words "AOTEAROA New Zealand made".
The necklace measures approximately 4.9cm (2") long, and hangs from a plaited cord approximately 40cm (15 3/4") long, with a chain extender. Closure is with a parrot clasp.
