The Story
This lovely Walking with Aroha Coffee or Tea Mug, with its pretty Kiwi Bird design, is designed by Northland Tattoo Artist Katy Hayward.
The beautiful cup features a brown kiwi bird taking a stroll through beautiful Aotearoa native bush. Kiwi sports a lovely Mānuka flower crown, and is joined with native New Zealand butterflies.
Kiwi stands on a mix of kauri tree leaves, rimu tree leaves, and silver ferns. It has native friends, including the hura (giant centipede), pupurangi (kauri snail), kahukura (red admiral butterfly), pepe para riki (common copper butterfly), rauparaha (copper butterfly), pepe ao uri (common blue butterfly), and mumutawa (ladybird).
The mug comes to you or the recipient in a beautiful gift box.
The mug measures approximately 70mm x 140mm x 80mm (2 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 3 3/16").
There is a matching trinket dish available too.
I've known Katy for many years, as she went to Ngunguru School with my daughter. And I have delightedly watched her growth as an amazing tattoo artist, predominantly decorating her customers' skin with the most finely detailed, intricate tattoos of New Zealand's wonderful wildlife.
Now she has turned her skills to decorating bone china pottery, making her art available to so many more people. And I am honoured to be able to make it available to people all around the world.
