It's made from Marsden Jade, otherwise known as Flower Jade, otherwise known as Putiputi Pounamu.  A natural phenomenon, Marsden Jade is only found in the Marsden Valley, on the South Island of New Zealand.  A relatively rare greenstone (pounamu): greenstone infused with iron, infiltrating the greenstone rock over time from tumbling water or minor cracks.

The greenstone then takes on the iron infused colour, so you have this beautiful green stone edged with shades of cream, yellow, orange and brown.  Simply, exquisitely beautiful.
