Now you can have a child size korowai to match our adult Short Black Maori Korowai with Gold Trim. The adult version is often purchased for special occasions like weddings or major events, and now a child can look just as glamourous.
We usually call this feather cape a korowai, but the correct name is kahu huruhuru.
The short cape is made using black feathers, with a sheen that gives off blue and green shades, like the feathers of a tui bird.
The taniko trim is particularly beautiful, being black with a shiny gold thread through it.
Lovingly made in New Zealand by a Maori lady of Ngati Porou descent.
To decide on the size you require, measure the child around their shoulders to centre front. Take off about 5 centimetres of that measurement to allow for room for the cords to be tied. If you need a different width to that offered (40cm, 50cm, 60cm, or 70cm), email us for a quote.
